Homer’s ancient epic is given new life in the UC Davis Department of Theatre and Dance’s presentation of "The Odyssey in Shadow," a large-scale cinematic shadow theater experience. The production will preview on June 1 and will run on June 2, 3 and 4 in the Arena Theatre, Wright Hall.

The newly relaunched Davis Humanities Institute intends to leave an impression on campus and community members alike with its inaugural event this spring: premiering Julie Wyman’s critically acclaimed documentary "The Tallest Dwarf" at the Ann E. Pitzer Center on April 8.

Twenty-one UC Davis alumni have been selected to exhibit their artistic works alongside other emerging artists from UC Berkeley and UCLA as part of the 'Open Inquiry: UC Arts' exhibit at Sausalito Center For The Arts, March 14 - April 26.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy will hold a screening March 13 of “What is Real? Six Short Films About Quantum Physics.” The screening will take place at 7 p.m. in 1002 Cruess Hall, followed by a Q&A.

Winner of two Tony Awards, for Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Golden Age of the Broadway musical. The UC Davis Department of Theatre and Dance presents the hilarious musical in the Main Theatre, Wright Hall, and runs Feb. 26, 27, 28 and March 5, 6 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 28 and March 7 at 2 p.m.

Composer, performer and installation artist Raven Chacon, the winter quarter spotlight artist in The California Studio: Manetti Shrem Artist Residencies, will be giving a talk at UC Davis in February. Students will also be performing one of his pieces. Both events are free and open to the public.

The intersection between climate change and art history opens new pathways for understanding how visual and material culture mediates human relationships to the natural world. This year's Alan Templeton Colloquium in Art History will feature art historians Andrew Patrizio and Alan C. Braddock in conversation on March 6 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art.

Dylan Mulder is an award-winning industrial designer, lecturer, consultant and digital fabrication expert whose work encompasses product design, feature films and wearable technology. Mulder will give a talk titled “Weaving Heritage and High Tech: From Wearables to Movie Magic” on May 15 at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art.

In "Rules of Play," the UC Davis Spring Dance Concert for 2025, choreographers and dancers will present work aimed at helping audiences reflect on which "rules" of life benefit society and which may need to be revised or upended. The program is curated by Doria E. Charlson, visiting professor of theatre and dance, and showcases new works developed and performed by undergraduate students.
