The artistry and craftsmanship of Italian haute couture will be on display in 'The Gift of Fashion: From the Maria Manetti Shrem Haute Couture Collection,' opens Oct. 14. Visitors to the free museum will have the rare opportunity for an up-close view of seven couture gowns by designers Roberto Capucci and Dolce & Gabbana, and pieces of jewelry designed by Dolce & Gabbana, Bulgari and Scavia, all on loan from the personal collection of the museum’s namesake, Maria Manetti Shrem.

Walk through the "Breath(e)" exhibit with various scholars from different departments across the College of Letters and Science as they reflect on the art and how it connects to their own work and the world.

Two new exhibitions opening Sept. 19 at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art at the University of California, Davis, shed new light on artistic traditions, ideas and mediums. 

Malaquías Montoya, a professor emeritus of Chicana and Chicano studies at UC Davis, has influenced several generations of students. His art has addressed social and political issues: farmworkers rights, the Vietnam War, U.S. intervention in Central America, and the torture of prisoners by many governments. Montoya's art was recently celebrated at exhibitions in Davis and the Bay Area.
