As part of UC Davis' celebration of 30 years of Eggheads, Trevor Bashaw, creative writing MFA candidate and associate instructor of English, was asked to write a poem inspired by the famous public art. Bashaw shared his poem during the Robert Arneson Eggheads 30th Anniversary Launch Party at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art on April 4.
The Andrés Montoya Poetry Prize is open to Latinx poets residing in the United States who have yet to publish a full-length poetry collection. Submissions for the prize open Nov. 1 and close Feb. 16, 2024.
Professor Inés Hernández-Ávila, a distinguished poet, translator and artist, has gained international recognition for her scholarship on the cultural and linguistic revitalization movements of Indigenous people. With support from the Public Impact Research Initiative, Hernández-Ávila organized a historic Niimiipuu/Nez Perce delegation to Chiapas, Mexico, in August 2021 to engage with Mayan writers, artists and community activists.
