Inside an L-shaped room in Cruess Hall, surrounded by workstations, 3D printers, sewing machines, tools and mannequins wearing prototypes, Gozde Goncu-Berk builds the future. It’s a future of many possibilities, but those possibilities share a common thread. They’re all based around humanity’s increasing use of wearable technology.
The call is open for paper and exhibition proposals for the forthcoming Wearables Collective Symposium, a two-day event at UC Davis focused on weaving innovation into all stages of life through e-textiles, smart clothing and other forms of wearable technology for health and well-being. The Wearables Collective Symposium is scheduled for March 25 and 26, 2024.
A mathematician studying the geometry behind refractions, a technologist creating wearables for the chronically ill, and a science historian revealing the complex history of sociogenomics have been named the 2023 Dean’s Faculty Fellows for the College of Letters and Science at UC Davis. The three-year fellowships are part of the College of Letters and Science Faculty Investment Initiative to support early faculty research excellence and development.
