Two chemists studying debilitating diseases and a population geneticist untangling early human evolution are the recipients of this year’s Incentives for Large Grant Awards from the College of Letters and Science at UC Davis. The Incentives for Large Grant Awards program provides faculty with up to $80,000 in support over two years to pursue large grants over $1 million.
Associate Professor Bettina Ng’weno, Department of African American and African Studies, has been honored with this year's Distinguished Graduate and Postdoctoral Mentorship Award from UC Davis Graduate Studies and the Graduate Council. This award shines a light on the power of mentorship in shaping the academic and professional journeys of UC Davis graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.
The Office of Research is pleased to announce the recipients of the second cohort of the UC Davis Humanities and Social Sciences Stimulating Exceptional and Essential Discovery (SEED) Funding Program. The awards support research activity in historically underfunded disciplines with a high likelihood of impact in the humanities and related social sciences.

Anissa Joseph, a Ph.D. candidate in political science, is the inaugural recipient of the Walter J. Stone Endowed Fellowship, which provides a $6,000 summer stipend to advance her research.
The Davis Humanities Institute (DHI) has awarded two faculty in the College of Letters and Science with Network Collaboration Fellowships that provide $5,000 in support for fellows or their collaborators to travel to connect on a shared project.
