Estella Atekwana Strengthens Kenya Research Ties with UC Davis and California Delegation

Global research collaborations on climate change, transportation, health and poverty were the focus of a UC Davis and the State of California delegation to Kenya that included Estella Atekwana, dean of the College of Letters and Science. The University of Nairobi hosted Atekwana as part of an 11-member delegation led by UC Davis Chancellor Gary May on November 10.

F. Javier Arsuaga and David Wittman Awarded 2023 Chancellor’s Fellowships for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

A mathematician working in the life sciences and an astrophysicist studying dark matter from the College of Letters and Science at UC Davis are among the recent cohort awarded Chancellor’s Fellowships for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The fellowships recognize exceptional contributions in supporting, tutoring, mentoring and advising underrepresented students and/or students from underserved communities.

2023 UC Davis Medal Goes to Maria Manetti Shrem

UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May presented the 2023 UC Davis Medal, the university’s highest honor, to international arts patron and philanthropist Maria Manetti Shrem. Manetti Shrem is one of the largest supporters of the arts at UC Davis, funding projects such as the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, artist teaching residencies, and new arts curricula in the College of Letters and Science.
