With a frequently playful approach, historian Kathy Stuart invites students to engage deeply with very serious topics like stigma and persecution in early modern Europe. This year, ASUCD, the undergraduate governing body on campus, honored Stuart with its Excellence in Education Award.
Seven faculty and staff members from UC Davis are being recognized for their outstanding global engagement work with two key awards: the Chancellor’s Award for International Engagement and the Excellence in Teaching for Global Learning Award.
Kathy Stuart, associate professor of history, delights in crime and deviance — her research specialty. Her research has inspired a period film, "The Devil’s Bath," based on her latest research and book, "Suicide by Proxy in Early Modern Germany: Crime, Sin and Salvation."
