UC Davis psychologist Paul Hastings has been appointed interim director of the Center for Mind and Brain, a UC Davis research institute that studies how the human mind works and trains the next generation of researchers with leading-edge techniques and methods in psychology and neuroscience.
New research from the UC Davis Center for Mind and Brain found that increasing representation from historically disadvantaged groups in local governments in India improved infant mortality, mother’s pre-natal doctor’s visits and tetanus vaccinations.
Adolescents who had emotional support from friends and relatives, and who were biologically prepared to respond well to others, were more likely to exhibit prosocial behavior and empathy for others as they entered young adulthood, compared to adolescents without that kind of backing.
