An exhibition on view at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art at UC Davis shows in real time the digitization of the university’s Fine Arts Collection. Visitors not only view the art but watch as it’s unpacked, photographed and entered in a database where it will be searchable by the public soon.

The Excellence in Teaching for Global Learning Award recognizes UC Davis instructors of the Academic Senate or Academic Federation who go above and beyond in designing and teaching UC Davis global learning programs. This year’s recipients are Ozcan Gulacar (Academic Senate), and Marc Ishisaka-Nolfi (Academic Federation).

A multidisciplinary team from three universities found that indoor lighting of various hues so strongly influences listeners’ experiences that musical venues, health-care settings and even homeowners might wish to reconsider their lighting choices for maximal effect and enjoyment of their music.
The newly launched Maria Manetti Shrem Institute for Sustainable Design, Fashion and Textiles will serve as a first-of-its-kind hub dedicated to innovation, collaboration and global impact. The institute, housed in the Department of Design, will advance wearable and smart textile technologies and promote sustainability across multiple facets of design.
Gözde Göncü-Berk, associate professor of design, has been named the inaugural Maria Manetti Shrem Endowed Chair in Design, Fashion and Textiles and the founding director of the Maria Manetti Shrem Institute for Sustainable Design, Fashion and Textiles at the University of California, Davis. Her work focuses on development of soft wearable systems that sense, respond and adapt to the body to enhance health, well-being and performance.
